When I Feel Marred

Publication date Aug 12, 2026

Have you ever felt broken beyond repair? Have you ever done something that you believed could never be made right? Have you ever attached that failure to your soul? I have.

There have been moments in my life where I’ve felt flawed… Damaged… Marred.

And if I’m honest, some of that came from my own choices.

But here’s what I love about this passage—the clay was marred in the potter’s hands, but not because of the potter. And still… The potter didn’t throw it away! Look closely at what the prophet Jeremiah says occurred:

“But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” (Jeremiah 18:4, NIV)

Even though it appeared the “pot” was ruined, the Potter simply reshaped and made it even better! This is what that means to me—my failures don’t disqualify me!

God sees beyond the flaws. He sees the potential.

Too often, I define myself by my scars, or the marred moments of my past—but God defines me by His grace.

How I see myself matters because belief shapes experience. If I believe I’m broken beyond repair, I’ll live like it.

BUT, if I believe God is restoring me—I’ll begin to walk in that truth.

Today, I choose to believe what God says about me. Not what my past says. Not what shame says. But what He says: “Behold, I am doing a NEW THING!!!” (see Isaiah 43:19)

Jesus can do the same for you!!! Let’s pray together:

“God, help me see myself the way You see me. Remove the lies I’ve believed about my worth. Thank You that my flaws do not define me. Remind me that You are still shaping my life. In His name. Amen.”

Never forget, my friend—

You are a miracle!
