Refined in the Fire

I am so glad that you have accepted the invitation of God to go to the Potter’s house. Let me remind you again of this beautiful passage from Jeremiah 18:

“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: ‘Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.’ So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.” (Jeremiah 18:1–4, NIV)  

Even though the text does not take us beyond this moment, this is what we know because of life experience.

The process doesn’t end on the wheel! The clay must go through fire.

And I’ve learned—so do we.

Trials aren’t interruptions. They are part of the process. Fire can burn, but it can also shed light on so many issues that need to be revealed. God uses the heat not to destroy—but to refine. Think about that as you contemplate this promise from Isaiah 43:

“When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isaiah 43:2, NIV)

This is the truth: the fire strengthens what the potter has formed. It makes the vessel durable, useful, complete, and strong!!!

What I’ve discovered is this—my hardest moments can become my most meaningful ones.

Because God is present in the fire.

He is not distant.

He is not absent.

He is with me.

And what feels like pressure is often preparation.

Today, I choose to trust Him—even in the fire, because I know He is refining me into something stronger, something deeper, something eternal.

“God, give me strength in the fire. Help me trust You in the hard seasons. Remind me that You are with me and that You are using every moment to shape me. Refine me for Your purpose. Amen.”
