God Doesn't Only Live by the Sea...
Are you going on vacation this year? Whether you can answer that question with a joyful YES or a sad NO, this reminder today is definitely for you! 🤗
Because people who go on vacation eventually come home.
And here's something important to remember:
If you can't go on vacation—your home is also a place God has given you!
At the beginning of June I was able to spend some time in the south of France. And of course, it was wonderful! New experiences, time with family, special moments, and a break from everyday life.
But if I'm honest, there was something I was really looking forward to: coming home.
You know, we live in a time where we are often made to believe that "real life" happens somewhere else.
At the beach. In the mountains. On the next trip.
We save for months for two weeks of rest and spend a lot of money on places where we only stay for a short time. But what about the place where we spend most of our lives?
Jeremiah wrote to the people of Israel during a difficult time: "Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce." (Jeremiah 29:5)
Could it be that sometimes we invest in things that cannot produce lasting fruit?
And that's the message for you and me today: enjoy your vacation if you are able to take one.
➡️ But don't invest only in the few weeks of the year that feel extraordinary.➡️ Invest in the many days that may seem ordinary.
Make your home a place of peace. 🕊️
Invest in relationships. In hospitality. In shared meals. In prayer. In warmth and security.
And if you cannot afford a vacation, remember this:
God's presence is no closer to you by the sea than it is in your living room!
...And maybe this summer you could invest in a "prayer chair"—a special place where God can meet with you because He knows He has your full attention there.
Invest (more) in the home God has given you—because this is where life happens!
You are a miracle!
