You’re a Watermelon! 🍉

I loooooove watermelons!

Seriously! I have to really hold myself back from eating an entire watermelon all by myself. 😁

But when you look at a watermelon from the outside, it's actually pretty ordinary.

A green rind.Sometimes a little yellowish.Not exactly what you would call "beautiful."And they can be a bit inconvenient to buy because they are often so heavy.

And yet, we still take them home.

Why?

Because we know the best part isn't found on the outside. Only when we cut the watermelon open do we discover the juicy red inside. The freshness. The sweetness. Mmm... delicious! 😋

With watermelons, we understand that something wonderful is hidden behind the outer shell. That's why we don't judge them by their appearance.

So why do we do that with people all the time? We see someone on social media and think: "They have their life together."

We see someone smiling and think: "Of course they're doing great."

We see success and assume they must be happy.

But God looks deeper. He says:

"Do not consider his appearance or his height … The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."(1 Samuel 16:7) 

He looks at what is inside. He looks behind the shell, beyond the outside appearance. 

That's what matters to God. And He knows what is inside you. That's why He chose you!

God chose to offer you His love.

That's why He didn't look away when others may have left you behind, like an old watermelon sitting unwanted in the grocery store.

Because God sees what He has placed inside you! You don't have to impress Him with your appearance.

Your social media account doesn't matter to Him.Your status and reputation don't matter either.

God isn't interested in the shell. He delights in a heart that opens itself to Him. 🍉
