Fake Faith? 😲

I admit it: I used to love fake designer handbags. 

I wanted to fit in, even though they weren’t real. 

Are there areas in your life where you try to present something on the outside that isn’t actually true? 🫣

In Christian circles, for example, it has almost become normal to casually say: “I believe God wants me to…”

We probably think, “if I phrase it this way, no one can question me anymore.”

We present something as true that may not actually be real. 

Maybe, just as I used to carry fake designer handbags, some of us carry a spiritual “fake” image too. It looks authentic on the outside, but it really isn’t.

The third commandment says: “You must not misuse the name of the Lord your God…” (Exodus 20:7). 

In the original context, this wasn’t only about using God’s name as a swear word or making false promises. The “name” represented God Himself! 😲

This means that when you use His name, you are not simply saying a word — you are referring to Him.

And you probably know what I mean.

Sometimes we are quicker to make something sound “spiritual” than we are to truly seek God about it, and we end up using His name to support our own ideas…

Not because we mean harm.But because, honestly, we all want to look good in front of others. 

But God is not looking for a spiritual appearance. He desires honesty before Him.

So pray 🤲: “God, I’m not sure right now… but I truly want to hear You.”

And say to others: “This is something I’m seeking God about, and I’m waiting for His guidance.”

And you know what? That is not weak faith — that is real faith!

That is faith that does not misuse God’s name, but stands honestly before Him.

Today, I no longer need fake designer handbags. And I don’t need a faith that only looks good from the outside either.

Real faith does not begin with having the right words, it begins with a sincere heart.

Let’s become real in every area of our lives.
