You Are Needed! šŸ«”ā¤ļø

Publication date Sep 25, 2026

Are there people in your life who you find hard to show respect or appreciation for? Maybe even your own parents? 🫢

The fifth commandment says: ā€œHonor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the Lord your God is giving youā€ (Exodus 20:12).

This commandment connects two things: our relationship with God and the way we treat other people.

This can be complicated. Not everyone has an easy story with their parents. Maybe you have experienced hurt, disappointment, or distance in your relationship with them.

That is why it is important to understand:

Honoring does not mean approving of everything. And it does not mean giving up healthy boundaries.

It means:

Not allowing bitterness to control your heart, and choosing to take the first step. ā¤ļø

Paul later refers back to this commandment and shows us something special. He says: ā€œā€˜Honor your father and mother.’ This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, ā€˜things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earthā€™ā€ (Ephesians 6:2-3).

This commandment is an invitation to break the cycle.

Again:

Yes, family can be complicated.Yes, there are things that have caused pain.

But the question is:

ā€œHow will YOU choose to respond today?ā€

Honoring means intentionally choosing love because you don’t want to remain stuck in what happened in the past.

Again:

Do not allow bitterness to control your heart — and choose to take the first step. ā¤ļø

You know, strength is not shown by keeping your distance. Strength is shown when you are still able to love despite everything.

šŸ¤ What would be one small first step you could take toward your family or your parents today?

Maybe it’s a simple WhatsApp message.A sincere ā€œthank you.ā€A conversation…A piece of cake shared together…

Because healing doesn’t begin when everything is immediately resolved — it begins when someone chooses to take the first step.

How beautiful would it be if that person was you? ā¤ļø

…so that you may live long and that it may go well with you. šŸ˜‰

You are a miracle!
