Letting Go of Control
I don’t know about you, but one of the hardest things for me is releasing control. I often try to manage outcomes, fix problems on my own, and hold everything together.
But the more I try to control my life, the more I realize how limited I am.
Healing requires surrender. It means acknowledging that I am not the author of my own restoration.
God is not asking me to fix myself—He is asking me to trust Him.
In the story of the potter, the clay does not resist the hands shaping it. It yields. That image challenges me deeply. Am I resisting God’s work in my life, or am I allowing Him to shape me, even when it is uncomfortable? The Bible talks about how we all resist at different times and in different ways.
Listen to these words from Isaiah: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (Isaiah 53:6, NIV)
This verse reminds me that my tendency is to go my own way. But Jesus took on the weight of my brokenness so that I could be restored. That truth frees me from the pressure of trying to control everything, and when I hand that over to Jesus, I stop wandering and can find my way back home.
When I surrender control, I am not losing my life—I am placing it in the hands of the One who can truly redeem it. Healing flows when I stop striving and start trusting.
Let’s pray about that together and, in doing so, stop the wandering:
Father, I confess that I often try to control what only You can guide. Help me to release my grip on my plans and surrender fully to You. Teach me to trust Your process, even when I don’t understand it. Shape my heart to align with Yours. I pray this in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Never forget, my friend—
You are a miracle!
