Seeing My Scars Differently
I have several scars on my body. Some unfortunate miscalculations, a few surgeries, and a few too many hockey games, and I am truly a marked man!
I used to see some of my scars as reminders of failure, but now I understand they can be testimonies of healing.
A scar is evidence that a wound has closed. It tells a story—not just of pain, but of survival and restoration.
In my journey, I’ve learned that God does not waste my past. Even the parts I wish were different can become instruments of encouragement for others. My scars can point people to the grace of God if I allow them to be used that way.
Jesus Himself carries scars, and yet those scars are not signs of defeat—they are marks of victory! The scars of Jesus prove that HE still lives!!!!
That truth reshapes how I view my own life. If He embraced His scars as part of His redemptive story, then I can trust that mine have purpose too. I love this passage where Jesus invites His disciples into the proof of His ultimate healing, the Resurrection!
“Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” (Luke 24:39, NIV)
This verse shows that Jesus, in His resurrected body, still bore His scars. They became proof of who He is and what He accomplished. Every scar you bear can become a trophy of the goodness of God if you will allow Him to heal them fully.
Today, I choose to see my scars not as shame, but as testimony of God’s healing power!
Jesus, thank You for showing me that scars can be signs of victory. Help me to view my past through the lens of Your redemption. Use my scars to encourage others and bring glory to Your name. Amen.
Never forget—
You are a miracle!
