Would You Thank God for THAT? 🤔

Publication date Oct 30, 2026

Have you ever had lice?

I remember that when I was in kindergarten, my incredibly long and beautiful hair had to be cut because of them. Oh, that was painful!

Corrie ten Boom had a far more painful experience with lice. During World War II, she and her sister Betsie were taken to the Ravensbrück concentration camp.

The barracks where they were housed were not only completely overcrowded—they were also full of lice. 🤢

But it was there that Betsie reminded her sister of the words in 1 Thessalonians 5: “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, NLT)

Would you have been able to do that in this situation?

Betsie did exactly that. Anyone who has seen the movie will surely never forget that moving scene. She gave thanks:

For the fact that they were together. For the Bible they had with them. And, unbelievably, for the lice.

Corrie, however, initially refused. Thank God for lice? In a concentration camp?

But some time later, the sisters discovered something remarkable: the guards hardly ever came into their barracks. And because of that, Corrie and Betsie were able to read the Bible and tell the other women about God relatively uninterrupted.

Why did the guards avoid their barracks? Because of the lice!

Maybe there are “lice” in your life right now too... something that is holding you back and makes absolutely no sense.

God sees what you cannot see yet.

So maybe, today, bravely thank Him for that.

Because what bothers and troubles you today may be something your heart will say THANK YOU for tomorrow.

Well, I was at least a little thankful that my brother could no longer pull on my long hair! 😉

You are a miracle!
