Miracles found in kindness
I am just wrapping up my day. It’s been full and as I prepare to fall asleep, I am thinking back over all that I witnessed today:
- I witnessed a man holding open a door for a long line of ladies entering a meeting room. He smiled, nodded, and embraced his role as a temporary “doorman”.
- I saw a young lady pick up an item that a stranger had dropped and race down the street to return the item.
- My host, for the conference where I am speaking, went out of his way to make sure that I had room and rest to complete my writing for this week.
- A friend, back home, picked up my wife and took her to a doctor’s appointment because I was out of town.
- Someone left a gift basket in my hotel room filled with snacks and water.
Five small miracles of kindness in just one day! friend, isn’t it amazing how a small act of kindness can lift your heart? Where does kindness come from?
I believe that all kindness originates in the heart of God. Titus 3:4-7 says:
“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:4-7, NIV)
friend, the kindness of God saves us, washes us, renews us, and when we respond to it, justifies us! It’s the miracle of salvation! And it was meant to be passed on!
So much can change through a small act of kindness. Today, take a moment and think back. Did you witness any small miracles of kindness? Did you create any small miracles of kindness? Were you intentional about bringing kindness into someone else’s day?
