Prayer dresses you for success 👗👔

Publication date Jun 12, 2021

Do you know that prayer will help clothe you for any trial or opportunity in your life? A prayerless life will leave you feeling exposed, naked, and vulnerable.

My grandson, Luke, had always dreamed about going to France with his papa. So you can imagine the excitement we both felt when it became a reality. We talked about the sites he wanted to see: the Eiffel Tower, L’Arc de Triomphe, and the Louvre. We even went to a soccer game in freezing weather with 80,000 other fans and cheered with all our hearts. Thankfully, my friend had warned me about the cold weather, so we were prepared.

friend, have you ever been unprepared for the weather or for an important meeting? The Bible has an incredible analogy about clothing that expands this idea: “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” (Colossians 3:12, NIV)

We all need to be ready for the weather and dress accordingly. But we also need to realize that we wear our attitudes like garments. I’ve often said, “people feel us before they hear us.” It’s fascinating to me that most of us spend so much time preparing our clothes, hair, and makeup but neglect our inner selves. We often walk into meetings emotionally or spiritually naked. Prayer will help adjust your attitude and spirit.

I’d like to encourage you to join me on a journey of clothing ourselves with the right attitudes and a right spirit before we start each day. Do it through prayer. Have a few friends join you in prayer and get clothed in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.

Here are three steps that work for me:

  1. Get rid of hurt, anger, jealousy, and any emotional junk. Take out your emotional “garbage” on a daily basis.
  2. Be filled with the Spirit. Invite Him to heal you, fill you, and empower you.
  3. Get your inner self ready. Don’t start your day spiritually or emotionally naked.

Please remember you are designed to be a miracle, so don’t let the debris of life rob you of your miracle moments. Because you are a miracle.
