Reach Out to God
I woke up recently feeling really hungry, which surprised me because I usually have breakfast later in the morning.
I wondered, "Did you not eat anything last night?" Strange, as I was invited to a birthday party and ate more than usual!
Have you experienced that too, friend? That sometimes, especially on holidays, you eat more than usual and then wonder why your stomach is growling in the morning, even though it got plenty the night before?
That's exactly how it is with faith too! God designed us that way! I believe He wanted to show us this: He will give us a hunger for more of Him as we take more time for Him!
Here are some practical suggestions for you:
- Every time you're about to mindlessly open any app on your phone or when you're on the bus not sure what to do, pray. Start a conversation with God instead.
- Maybe you eat lunch alone. Why not open your Bible instead of sadly staring at your salad or your phone? Read the Word that God wants to speak to you in that moment.
- If you're frustrated in the evening staring at the screen because there's no good movie, play a worship song. Sing to your God. Imagine how happy that will make Him.
The more you take in these moments, the greater your hunger will be for what God can give you!
Yes, you'll automatically crave "more of these moments with God.” You'll see and understand that we as humans have only scratched the surface of what God wants to give us from His infinite abundance!
It's black and white in the book of James: "But the gifts God has for us are even greater… He helps those who know they need Him… Draw close to God, and God will draw close to you." (from James 4:6-8 NLT)
You are a miracle!
