Root beer float

Publication date Apr 23, 2021

Have you ever had a root beer float? It’s amazing, incredible, and super unhealthy. For those of you who have never tasted it, please allow me to give you my secret recipe. Fill a chilled glass half full of A&W root beer, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream and gently stir, and watch it foam up. Then get ready for your taste buds to have a party.

The Bible says giving is just like this: “‘Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.’” (Luke 6:38, NIV)

friend, we are commanded to give, and God promises it will be given back to us in a larger amount. I love the description of the harvest of our giving: “pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing.” Wow, that’s quite a description!

friend, your financial health is directly tied to your giving. Your promotions, raises, inheritances, contracts, and gifts are a result of your generous sowing. If you want a better harvest, give money, resources, talents, and time away. God promises to give you favor with grants, business leaders, and even governments.

Five years ago, I suffered two strokes and a brain bleed. It was a rough time in my life. I cried a lot, prayed for healing, and sought wisdom and doctors to help me recover. God is so awesome.

During my rehabilitation, I also sought God for blessings. To my surprise, I was asked to apply for a grant to help our work in the French world. I’d never applied for a grant before but asked God for grace and wisdom. We received a million-dollar grant to continue the work. Hallelujah!

Even though I was limited in my abilities for a season, God was not limited. He prepared people to give beyond my wildest dreams.

friend, God can do the same for you. Give Him something to multiply, like the little boy with a sack lunch did: “‘Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?’... Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish. When they had all had enough to eat, He said to his disciples, ‘Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.’ So they gathered them and filled twelve baskets with the pieces of the five barley loaves left over by those who had eaten.” (John 6:9-13, NIV)

He’s looking for givers like you because you’re a miracle and He loves you.
