Stay tuned!
"What is it in a song that connects people and is also valuable in terms of content?" This was the question I asked myself when I was invited to do a livestream concert from my living room for a company.
"Jerusalema" by Master KG is such a song that stayed in the charts for months during the pandemic and reached all countries and hearts worldwide. Here are the lyrics of the song: "Jerusalem is my home. Guard me. Walk with me. Do not leave me here. My place is not here." Though this song isn't expressly Christian, I think it's actually a very good message in our current world situation.
But the lyrics are in African—Zulu to be precise. So not exactly my native language, haha. I decided to sing this song in my concert and began practicing it several days beforehand.
The first day, I said to myself, "I give up." On the second day, I thought, "I'm just not feeling it...it's probably not for me." But by the third day, I was humming this song to myself all day long, and the night before the concert, I even dreamed about it!
In the morning, I woke up and had such a hankering for this song that lo and behold, I could sing along in Zulu as if I'd never done anything else! :-)
friend, just like with this song, something similar happens with prayer. You may be saying to yourself, "I've been praying, but nothing seems to be happening." Keep persevering in prayer with all your heart, friend! Maybe tomorrow you still won't feel it, but believe me, something will change WITHIN YOU as God works ON YOU!
"'Then you will call on Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you,' declares the LORD..." (Jeremiah 29:12-14, NIV)
Eventually, you'll just start praying with ease, just like I could sing along in Zulu. You'll know and trust that your prayers will be heard by God and answered in His time. "And if we know that He hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of Him." (1 John 5:15, NIV)
You're a miracle!
