“Déborah, can you help me? I keep struggling with my eating disorder—it feels like a giant standing between me and my thoughts!” And yes, today, I can help.

Because I’ve been through it myself—deeply. I’ve had at least 100 relapses. And I know what it feels like to cling to God’s hand with your very last ounce of strength and say, “God, I need a miracle. I can’t do this on my own anymore.”

When David stood face to face with his giant named Goliath, Goliath looked completely impossible to defeat. But David had already experienced so much with God—in private—that he could face his giant. He had fought battles in solitude, with no audience, no applause. Just moments where he knew: “God, if you don’t step in right now, I’m done.” 🙏

Even King Saul laughed at him when David said he wanted to fight Goliath: “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a young man, and he has been a warrior from his youth.” (1 Samuel 17:33

But then David reminded Saul—and maybe even reminded himself—of everything he’d already gone through with God: “But David said to Saul, ‘Your servant has been keeping his father’s sheep. When a lion or a bear came and carried off a sheep from the flock, I went after it, struck it and rescued the sheep from its mouth. When it turned to me, I seized it by its hari, struck it and killed it. Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear.’” (1 Samuel 17:34-36 NIV💪

And after that? Saul let David fight. And as we all know how the story ends… David won the battle against the giant (see 1 Samuel 17:41–51).

friend, your battles in solitude matter. It’s in those moments of deep one-on-one struggle that you realize: You can’t do this without God—and with God, you will always make it through.

You are a miracle!
