The Jesus I know
friend, I hope that you have been encouraged as I shared about the Jesus I know! One day, I hope that I can sit down with you and hear about Jesus YOU know! That would be a dream come true for me!
Let’s pray together. “Jesus, we want to experience the miracle of knowing you more! You are God, King, Savior, Lord, Friend, Counselor, Comforter and our Hope. As we come to you today, we pray for your guidance and revelation. We love you. Amen.”
A few days ago, I was up on the campus of a local university. While I was there, I overheard a conversation between a group of college students. They had all encountered a “street preacher” on their way to class and their experience with that preacher was quite negative. One of them said, “If that guy is this rude, angry and obnoxious, can you imagine what his God must be like?”
I was heartbroken, and I had to say something to them. I pulled up a chair and said, “Hi. You don’t know me but my name is Grant. I heard about your experience with the guy who is yelling, saying that everyone is a worthless sinner. I want to say that I am deeply sorry for your experience. You see, that man does not represent the Jesus that I know. I was wondering if you would let me share a little about the Jesus who saved my life?”
They all got quiet as I shared my story. I shared about ALL the miraculous things Jesus has done for me, not what I have done for Him.
Did they all give their hearts to Jesus that day? No. But they heard about the Jesus that I know, and I pray that God will continue to work in their hearts. I have deep confidence that He will!
As I close this week with you, I want to say that it is an honor to spend time together. I pray that our love for Jesus will continue to grow because of who HE is, which is our God and our friend!
Colossians 1: 15-23 says:
“The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy. For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation— if you continue in your faith, established and firm, and do not move from the hope held out in the gospel.” (NIV)
Stand firm and never let go of the Jesus WE know!
You are a miracle!
