The love of God makes us grateful
King David was considered the apple of God’s eye in spite of the fact that he did some really terrible things. Driven by lust, he abused his power and had a man set up to be killed in order to take his wife. What a dirty dog! And yet, God loved him like crazy. The big question we should all ask ourselves is “Why? Why did God still love David in spite of it all?”
The answer seems to be simple when you read the Psalms. David was real, raw, and grateful to God on a consistent basis. The Bible says, “Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy.” (Psalms 107:1-2, NKJV)
friend, did you notice the reason David was grateful? There are four important things that jump out instantly:
- The Lord is good. He never sends evil or calamity.
- The Lord’s mercy endures forever. That’s totally incredible and comforting. God will never give up on you, and He will show you mercy forever. He won’t treat you as you deserve. He always treats you better.
- David was redeemed from the enemy by God. Isn’t that amazing? I’m sure that God redeemed you as well. You are His. friend, the Bible says, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians 6:20, NKJV) God chose you and paid the price to buy you back from the pit and hell.
- David realized he had many enemies but that God delivered him from all of them. God will deliver you from your enemies and your ultimate enemy: the devil.
Are you grateful for these four truths every day? When you focus on these four truths, this attitude shift can set you free from the difficulties you are facing.
friend, we are here to pray with you and inspire you to give thanks because God loves you and you are a miracle.
