The source of power
Many people seem to be hungry for power. Politicians, military leaders, employers, corporate innovators, media mavens, and sexual predators are all flexing their rapacious muscles to gain more money, sex, or power. Have you seen this trend lately?
The Bible warns us of three temptations that can sidetrack our lives and destroy a good person, company, or community: “For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” (1 John 2:16, NIV) Yikes! These land mines are lurking in unexpected relationships and opportunities.
As I prayed for you and all the others I love so much, another verse came to mind: “‘Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.’” (Matthew 10:16, NKJV)
friend, I do not want you to be afraid or discouraged by these threats because there is a greater power that we can access every day. This power will help us overcome temptation and even fight evil. The tumultuous leader Peter once comforted the first-century believers with this promise: “His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness.” (2 Peter 1:3, NIV)
Run to the promises of God during these crazy times. There is no power greater than God’s. Draw from His power, and you will survive and thrive because you are a miracle. And I’m praying for you like crazy.
