Would you just head out the door like this today?

You know, just as you woke up? With sleep still in your eyes? That dry stuff we sometimes find in the corners of our eyes in the morning... Some people call it “eye crusties.” 🤭 But in medical terms, it’s called eye discharge or mucus. Well, there’s something new you’ve learned today. ☺️

It might look a little gross, but it’s totally natural—and here’s why we have it in the morning: Because your eyes clean themselves while you sleep!

You can look it up yourself, but how amazing is that? God designed your eyes to produce tears that keep them moisturized at night and flush out tiny foreign particles or dust.

So our bodies are in a constant state of “cleansing.” And that leads me to ask: If our physical body is always cleansing itself, shouldn’t we do the same—consciously?

If our body is constantly purifying itself, shouldn’t we be just as intentional about keeping our hearts clean, too?

Not with water. Not with soap. 🧼🫧 But with truth. With God’s Word. With prayer. Through regular (yes, constant) moments of saying: “Father, forgive me for where I’ve fallen short,” when we slip up in the middle of everyday life. 🙏🏻

Because what good is it to look fresh on the outside if the inside is covered in dust?

Jesus says in Matthew 23:26: “...First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.” (Matthew 23:26 NIV)

Yes, our eyes need cleaning. And God knows how quickly they get dirty. That’s why He designed this automatic cleansing process in our bodies. And now it’s up to us to apply that same principle to our hearts. ❤️

Not once a year. Not just for spring cleaning. But every single day. Just like you wash your face in the morning. Just like your eyes clean themselves overnight. You can ask God each morning—and again and again:

“Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:11-12 NLT)

Amen!

You are a miracle!
