To infinity and beyond!
My grandchildren love the Toy Story series. To be honest with you, I love the whole series, especially the character called “Buzz Lightyear.” Have you ever seen these movies? Who’s your favorite character, and what’s his/her signature line? I love when Buzz declares, “To infinity and beyond!” right before he jumps into thin air. He really can’t fly, but he doesn’t know it. He has no jet propulsion or aerodynamic design, but he believes that he does.
Paul the Apostle was like this. Although he was a short fellow with an eyesight problem and an undisclosed thorn in his flesh, he boldly declared, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV) He seemed to be opposed by religious leaders, Romans, and Gentile witches, but he declared, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31, NIV)
In one conflict situation, Paul even admitted, “My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power,” (1 Corinthians 2:4, NIV).
So friend, maybe it’s time you place your confidence and plans in the hands of almighty God. This new year will have its share of obstacles, but God is on your side.
If you knew that failure would not ruin your plans this year, what would you endeavor? If you knew that God would send help, protection, and favor, what would you try?
John Maxwell wrote a book called Failing Forward. I recommend you pick it up and start dreaming, planning, and strategizing bigger. God is looking for dreamers like Abraham, Gideon, Deborah, and David. Dare to dream, and you will see a bigger God than you’ve ever seen.
Because you are a miracle.
