We don't have time for…social media?
Did you ever think you'd hear the phrase "We don't have time for social media" from me, friend? After all, I upload a relatively large number of Stories on Instagram and post almost daily (in German) on Facebook!
Let's be honest with each other because that's the only thing that will help. We could expand the list here beyond social media and add Netflix, computer games, and all the things we often (but probably shouldn't constantly) do.
You know how much I love the Bible! One reason is because there's so much goodness in it that gives us wisdom for everyday life.
For example, Ephesians says, "Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil." (Ephesians 5:15-16, NIV) When I approach my daily life by asking myself questions, for instance, like "Am I making good use of my time by watching movies for hours on end?", then I have my answer very quickly.
friend, even though I appear to be very present on social media, you'd be surprised how little time I actually spend on it. I want and pray to make good use of my time.
God certainly isn't a killjoy, but I believe it hurts Him when He knows how much potential He's placed in you but sees it "lying on the couch." In other words, your God-given potential shouldn't just lie dormant!
While you may be worrying about other people's posts, God is concerned about your life. Why do we spend so much time immersing ourselves in others' lives when life with Him—finding Him, knowing Him, loving Him—is the most exciting life we could ever have? :-)
friend, God gives us a standard in His Word that helps us make right decisions: "Therefore, test everything to see what's pleasing to the Lord" (Ephesians 5:10, CEB).
You'll be amazed when sometimes He'll also say, "That's great, lie down on the couch, friend...enjoy. And after you've rested, I'll show you all I have planned for you!"
You are a miracle!
