What are the 3 “modes” of your prayer life?

Publication date Apr 29, 2020
On your cell phone, there are several modes to choose from: silent mode, vibrate mode, or ring mode. We also need these three modes in our lives as Christians!
  • We need the silent mode. How do we listen to God if we don’t know how to be quiet? We have to admit...being silent is sometimes very difficult for us. But here’s what the Bible encourages us to do: “Quiet your heart in his presence and pray; keep hope alive as you long for God to come through for you. And don’t think for a moment that the wicked in their prosperity are better off than you.” (Psalm 37:7, TPT)
  • We need the vibrate mode...in other words, to permanently allow the Holy Spirit the possibility of alerting us internally. He’s our counselor, the best counselor: “Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.” (Romans 8:26, NKJV)
  • We need the ring mode...meaning the prayer mode, when we speak to God aloud: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;” (Philippians 4:6)
We need to learn to integrate all three of these modes into our prayer lives! Each one is vital...especially in light of this worldwide health crisis. In fact, there’s actually one more mode on our cell phones, but it’s one that we should avoid at all costs in our relationship with God. The airplane mode (disconnected)! When we’re in this mode, we can’t receive or send any calls, any messages, anything at all… friend, stay connected with the Lord through the Holy Spirit who lives in you!
