Sharing the Good News
Hello friend, I am so excited to be sharing this week with you on A Miracle Every Day!
The other day, I stopped by a bakery to buy a cookie. I sat down with my treat and a little boy walked over and stared at MY cookie. I smiled at him and he asked me, “Could I have some of your cookie?” My first thought was, “No, it’s mine.” Before I could say a word, his mom headed in our direction and tried to get him to go back to his own table but he refused. As she picked him up and carried him away, he said for the whole restaurant to hear, “Sharing is caring!” How true...just not when it comes to cookies😊
This week, I want to share with you about the power of sharing. One of my favorite Old Testament stories is found in 2 Kings 7:3-4:
“Now there were four men with leprosy at the entrance of the city gate. They said to each other, ‘Why stay here until we die? If we say, ‘We’ll go into the city’—the famine is there, and we will die. And if we stay here, we will die. So let’s go over to the camp of the Arameans and surrender. If they spare us, we live; if they kill us, then we die.’” (2 Kings 7:3-4, NIV)
In a miraculous moment, before the men enter the camp of their enemy, God chases the Arameans away and they take NOTHING with them! This is what happens in 2 Kings 7:8-9:
“The men who had leprosy reached the edge of the camp, entered one of the tents and ate and drank. Then they took silver, gold and clothes, and went off and hid them. They returned and entered another tent and took some things from it and hid them also. Then they said to each other, ‘What we’re doing is not right. This is a day of good news and we are keeping it to ourselves. If we wait until daylight, punishment will overtake us. Let’s go at once and report this to the royal palace.’” (2 Kings 7:8-9, NIV)
I love that the men knew that they should share God’s blessing. They were blessed to be a blessing! Listen to this story from a man who receives what we share on A Miracle Every Day:
"After being in the Marine Corps, I got hurt. I spent 18 months in a coma, now up to 63 surgeries and God still has me here for a reason. I found you guys – literally just showed up in my inbox one day. You know I have been a huge fan and supported you guys every step of the way in any way I can. I absolutely LOVE everything you guys do! I work with a lot of veterans who have PTSD and substance abuse problems, and I find EVERY DAY, when I open my inbox, the exact word, whether it be from Grant or even Déborah, is the perfect word that I need for that day. I just want to say THANK YOU.
“My youngest son, Gabriel, is 8, and I just want to say to Déborah and Grant, every morning at the bus stop we drive up – I live about a ½ mile off the road, so we drive up to the mailbox. Every morning, the first thing he says is ‘Dad, Dad, Dad, can we listen to Grant or Déborah this morning?’ So, believe it or not, all the way down to an 8-year-old, you are making it work. And I just want to say thank you again."
This letter brought such great joy to my heart! God shares an idea through His word, Déborah and I share our thoughts and encouragement, our friend Jon shares it with his son and God gets all the glory.
My friend, you can be a part of a miracle today simply through sharing, the question is “what can you share” that will bring God glory? Whatever it is, share away and see what God will do!
You are a miracle!
