What should I add to my life?
COVID is no joke. The pandemic has ripped many things from our lives and even stolen our friends and acquaintances. How can you move forward during, and coming out of, a pandemic?
We all know life will return to normal in the next 30 days or so, right? Of course not...I don’t believe we will ever fully return to the old ways of life. We’ve been sobered by the fragility of life and our lifestyles. How has this pandemic affected you?
I was thinking about the changes in airport security since the 9/11 tragedy. We’ve gotten used to the long lines and intrusions of privacy. They’ve become quite normal for us.
After the worst of the virus is over, I’m sure we will have to make changes to protect ourselves and others. I assume the masks and gloves will be relegated to hospitals and clinics, but we’ll probably use sanitizers forever.
During my morning bike ride, I thought, “What would I add back into my life?” Peter encourages us to add seven things to our faith:
- Excellence
- Knowledge
- Self-control
- Perseverance
- Godliness
- Brotherly love
- Agape love
“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.” (2 Peter 1:5-7, NIV)
friend, will you try to add these important qualities to your life, business, or family? Would these seven qualities help you become a better you? I’m praying God will help you add real value to your soul, spirit, and relationships.
I’ve made my choice. I will not eat out as much, I will not watch sports as much, I will save more money for a rainy day, and I’ll try to live each day like it might be my last because it might. David asked the Lord to “...teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” (Psalms 90:12, NKJV)
You can choose what fills you, or society will do it for you. Choose well because you are a miracle.
