What’s your car like?

Well, hello again, my friend.
I'd like to tell you about my car. I drive a 1998 Honda Accord. We've had it in our family for a VERY long time. If you do the math, it's more than 26 years old. This vehicle has more than 200,000 miles on it, and it's the best car we've ever owned. It runs like a top, and the only things we've ever really done to it are oil changes and new tires.
Whenever I look at that old car, I see faithfulness. It's true, there are some nicks and dings around the exterior, and the leather on the car seats is cracked and worn.
I always think the reason for that wear and tear is because it has safely carried our family, year after year, and now, it’s simply showing the marks of life and time. Even though my kids are grown and gone and are now creating families of their own, I still see the ice cream stains and the smears of tuna fish sandwiches in the back seat as a picture of faithfulness, because that car has been with us for so long.
All of the imperfections are an amazing reminder to me of long, faithful obedience in the right direction.
My faithful Honda reminds me of my Faithful God!!
Psalm 33:4 says, "For the word of the Lord is right and true; he is faithful in all he does." (Psalm 33:4, NIV)
2 Thessalonians 3:3 says, "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one." (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NIV)
Because God is faithful, we can be faithful as well.
Proverbs 28:20 says, "A faithful person will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 28:20, NIV)
And finally, Matthew 25:21 says, "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’” (Matthew 25:21, NIV)
So today, let's take a lesson from a semi-vintage car: God is faithful, and our faithful service to Him is a reflection of how much we love and are dedicated to His purpose in our lives.
My prayer is that in all the miles of your life, you will be as faithful as my Honda Accord and that one day you will hear, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
Never forget, my friend, you are a miracle.
