Where are you putting down roots? đł

âPhone down. Truly live this day!â
I recently posted this on Instagram because, letâs be honest, that little device in our hands can be a major distraction.
And you donât even have to spend hours on social media. Constant texting back and forth is enough. Honestlyâwouldnât it be better to just meet up for a hug than try to sort everything over WhatsApp?
Okay, thatâs another topic. đ I donât want to get distracted by distractions. đ See how easy it is? Haha.
But itâs trueâdistractions like social media can knock you off balance so quickly. âDid you see whatâs going on in the world right now?!â
The Bible is so clear. So simple. So helpful. To keep us from being shaken, Paul said: âLet your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him.â (Colossians 2:7 NLT)Â
The word ârootedâ comes from botanyâit describes a tree with deep, strong roots. Paul uses this picture from nature to show how your faith should be anchored in Christ.
â Just like a tree with deep roots stands firm in a storm, your faith should be deeply rooted in Christ, so that bad news or everyday distractions donât knock you over.
â Roots feed the tree with nutrients. When you're rooted in Christ, you draw your spiritual nourishment and strength for the day from Him. And trust me, thatâs a lot of strength. đ
â A tree canât survive without its roots. In the same way, your life without a deep connection to Jesus is spiritually lifeless.
So if you're a tree with deep roots, đł you can't be easily shaken. đȘđ»
Donât let distractions distract you. And donât put down roots in places you donât belong.
â...rooted and built up in him, strengthening in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.â (Colossians 2:7 NIV) đ Â
You are a miracle!
