Who are you going to help today, friend?

Are you helpful, friend?

I am very aware that this is not always easy in everyday life, because we all run through the day with a full agenda, and it often seems as if we don't have time for it at all.

I was on my flight back from Madrid, and after spending the morning at the police station instead of in the sun (because my headphones had been swiped—see my October 25 devotional) I was now on a plane that couldn't take off due to strikes in France.

All passengers were tired and irritable, and after so many hours it smelled really bad in that plane. Once we finally landed, I just wanted to get out, but in front of me there was this elderly couple and I noticed their suitcases were stored behind them where they couldn't get to them.

I could have heard their conversation and their distress and just walked out, and honestly, I was very close to doing just that, but I decided to help them despite my tiredness.

"And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good." (2 Thessalonians 3:13 NIV

friend, I can't tell you how much their gratitude and smiles alone gave back to me!

From that eye contact between these people in need and me—a person who, thanks to the love of God in my life, was able to give a hopeful answer—suddenly everything became possible!

It is in such moments that conversations arise that can be life-changing: "Why did you help me..." and, hey presto, you can tell about the One who helped you!

When we help people, they are more likely to experience the reality of God. The invisible becomes visible through our practical love!

friend, go through the day today with open eyes and always be ready to be there for others in order to live out God's desire on earth: namely to pass on His help and love to people who don't know Him yet!

Thank you for doing this!

You are a miracle!
