Would you like a foretaste of heaven, friend?
"I'm so afraid about the future!" I'm sure we all hear this phrase a lot. Circumstances of all kinds tend to throw a wrench into our plans, and sometimes there's really nothing left to fix by human hands. One thing is for sure—we definitely need help from above so we don't lose our joy!
friend, let me reassure you today…this help is yours! Perhaps you haven't received certain financial or other help, humanly speaking, that was promised to you. You may be going through hard times and hoping you'll pass through this valley more quickly. But did you know that as a child of God, you've received a tremendous, divine inheritance of valuable gifts?
The Bible speaks of those who "...have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come" (Hebrews 6:4-5, NKJV). There are several priceless keys hidden here for us as the body of Christ!
- We share, or partake, in the Holy Spirit given to us! Jesus said, "'And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you.'" (John 14:16, NLT)
- We taste how good God's Word is, His Word that endures forever. "'Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.'" (Matthew 24:35, NKJV)
- We also taste "the powers of the age to come. Wow! I'd like to share more about this now.
What do you imagine "the powers of the age to come" will be, friend? Maybe ever-present angelic forces charged with ensuring our protection and security? But we already have that! :-) (see Psalm 91:11)
A synonym for "power" is "driving force." But it's important to note that heaven's "driving force" is never brute or violent force. Rather, it's tranquility, peace, serenity, confidence, security, certainty, and so much more! I believe that's what Hebrews 6:4-5 may be referring to! And these verses say that the body of Christ already has a taste of these "powers of the age to come"! Isn't it amazing that these beautiful powers are already working in our lives here on Earth?
I also love that this passage uses the verb "taste." Tasting means that there is much, much more to come! There is great anticipation! friend, God allows us this "taste" today to give us great hope. He guarantees that there is more to come!
So I encourage you today: instead of worrying about the future, abide in the Lord. "Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" (Psalm 34:8, NKJV). Help yourself in "God's kitchen," today and always! I guarantee you that everything there will be delicious, and when you get a taste, you'll be hungry for more! :-)
You are a miracle!
