You should get out of there
“It’s not about protecting me or anyone else. But yes, at some point, I did use drugs.”
I was just being prepared by a stylist for a photoshoot, and while I always enjoy it because it’s not something I do every day, I also love getting to know the people behind this craft.
In this case, she was a young, fully tattooed woman with a very warm presence. She told me that she was deeply involved in the electronic/techno scene from a very young age. And by deeply involved, she meant: “I participated in every festival. My life revolved entirely around it.”
I asked her directly: “Did you use drugs?” And the answer was just as direct: “Yes. I almost have to say, it’s inevitable. You’re constantly confronted with it in the most natural way. And once you start, you just want it again and again…”
I looked at this beautiful and radiant woman who was tying up my hair and asked: “How did you get out of that?”
Her answer touched me because it carries so much fundamental truth: “To get out of it, I had to leave it. I even had to change my entire circle of friends and learn to pay attention to what influences me.”
friend: To get out of it, you have to leave it! I really want to emphasize this to you today. What influences have you allowed into your life? And are you aware of what they’re doing to you?
God doesn’t want you to get lost in what’s not good for you! Oh, and don’t think it’s too late: You can’t get so lost that Jesus wouldn’t be able to find you!
He even says to you: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” (Psalm 32:8 NIV)
Take the necessary step today, friend. Make a decision that might change your entire life—for the better! And seal it with a prayer.
You are a miracle!
