Your Kingdom come

Publication date Sep 19, 2021

I’m moved by the model prayer taught by Jesus: “‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.’” (Matthew 6:9-10, NIV) He knew that our struggles, challenges, and battles would be fierce in the 21st century. These threats are not the worst of all time, but they are frightening without a good God.

Did you know that Jesus is very compassionate? He comforts every believer with these words: “‘I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.’” (John 16:33, NIV) Jesus wants to comfort you with the fact that He has already won the battle over death and the devil. Be confident in a victorious God, and He will help you overcome every battle with faith and courage.

My mom was the perfect example of this reality. She faced horrible battles but kept a heart full of faith and a positive attitude. She lived through:

  1. The Great Depression
  2. Boarding school
  3. Her mother dying while giving birth to her little brother
  4. The kidnapping and death of a brother
  5. The Second World War
  6. A husband who suffered from PTSD
  7. Five children

I could extend this list with many other trials she faced, but her faith in a good God helped her be an overcomer. Just as Paul the Apostle said, “...in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37, NIV)

friend, our daily battle involves resistance: “...you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience…” (Ephesians 2:2, NKJV).

Are you up for a new mission in life? It’s not about likes or shares. It is about a King who will one day say, “‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” (Matthew 25:21, NKJV) With all my heart, I want to hear “well done.” What about you?

I know it’s your desire as well because you are a miracle. And I love you more than ice cream!
