Have you ever been afraid of running into someone from your past because you knew it would bring back some not-so-great memories?

Well, friend, if I’m being honest, I’m actually really glad not everyone knows everything about my past—because there are definitely some things I’d be ashamed of. 🫣 And I can say that openly, because I’m pretty sure you’re not proud of everything in your past either—maybe not even everything that happened just yesterday.

But you know what? You don’t have to live in the past anymore—because Jesus offers you an entirely new life! 🤩

When David brought food to his brothers at the battlefield, they were quick to remind him of his “past” and tried to make it clear he didn’t belong there: “‘What are you doing around here anyway?’ he demanded. ‘What about those sheep you're supposed to be taking care of?’” (1 Samuel 17:28 NLT)

Eliab, David’s oldest brother, wanted to remind him that he was “just” a shepherd—and that he should stay in that past. But what if it was the prophet Samuel who made Eliab so uneasy? After all, Samuel had just anointed David…

You see, friend, it was valuable that David had spent time taking care of sheep and goats. 🐑 That season shaped his character—it was part of his journey. But it was just as right for David to step out and not stay with the sheep—because God had something new for him!

And sometimes, new can feel a little uncomfortable at first. Yes, people might laugh at your past, just like David’s brothers did.

But it’s when you choose to walk past what was, that you’ll realize: you’re not just stepping into the present—you’re stepping beyond it. Beyond your past. Beyond the present. Yes, into God’s greater plan.

friend, your past is not your future. And when can you start changing that? TODAY.

You are a miracle! 💛
