The Bible is a foundation of hope
Choose a Bible verse that speaks to you. Keep repeating it and carry it with you in different ways. Here are a few examples:
Examples:
Examples:
Write the verse on a card and place it next to your bed or tape it on the mirror in your bathroom.
Close your eyes and imagine a rock or something heavy, envisioning how you can literally hand over your burdens to Jesus.
Turn the verse into a short daily prayer; repeat it again and again, or write it in your journal.
When you feel alone, say the verse out loud.
Visualize Jesus walking beside you and speaking the verse to you.
In addition, writing down your feelings can also bring relief. Take a blank sheet of paper and write down your worries. Then pray: “Lord, I lay these worries before You.” Tear up the paper afterward as a symbol of surrender.
If Jesus has overcome the world, then your situation is not hopeless. There is a greater story unfolding, and you have not been forgotten.
Hope in depression
Depression isn’t something you “fix” with a few inspiring words. If you feel stuck, seek professional help. But also believe that God won’t abandon you in this battle. Each day, you can take a small step: breathing, praying, and reading one verse. God walks patiently with you, even when you don’t feel Him.
Maybe you can memorize one of these verses. Or pick one that speaks to you today. You don’t have to go through this alone. You are precious in God’s eyes. He sees you. He loves you.
