It’s time to fill your jar, friend! 🫙

friend, what is the greatest gift you have ever received? You might immediately begin to think of a large item that came at a Christmas celebration, or an unexpected financial bonus from your company, or a piece of jewelry from your spouse.  

Can I tell you the greatest gift(s) I have ever received? It is made out of paper and glass, and I will treasure it for the rest of my life. When I turned 50, my kids and my wife wrote out on strips of paper fifty things they loved about me and put it in a glass jar. I treasure every word that is written on those paper slips, and I will keep that glass until the day I die. On days when I feel down, I go to my jar to remind myself that there are people in the world who love me!

Every time I open my Bible, I feel the same way!  Every word in scripture reminds me that there is a God who loves me!

I love words. Words are powerful, and they never depreciate. The words of Jesus are precious and powerful, and they change EVERYTHING about our lives. Jesus said:

“Freely, you have received, freely give”. (Matthew 10:8, NIV) 

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21, NIV) 

Over and over again in Scripture, Jesus calls His followers to give so that others can receive. We can all give something that God promises to use to expand His Kingdom and our hearts.

My prayer for you is that you will learn the joy of generosity. We have a GIVING God, and He knows that we will experience true joy when we give and trust that He can do miracles through our sacrifice.
