How many books have you read in your life, friend?

Isn’t it crazy that God only gave us ONE book for an entire lifetime? I find this thought completely overwhelming. Because you, too, will experience times when you open God’s Word, and it just doesn’t speak to you.

Could it be that we don’t understand God’s Word because we’re not really paying attention?

This morning I opened the Bible—and I’ll be honest with you—I’ve been traveling and haven't been keeping up with my quiet time as consciously as I should have. Between the guilty conscience and the distraction of “I really need to do all this laundry,” my eyes landed on Psalm 147:

“He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.” (Psalm 147:4 NIV)

Here you might think, “Great, and what does that have to do with me?” Or, you could look more closely to truly understand. Ask: “What exactly does this mean?”

“He determines the number of the stars…” (Psalm 147:4 NIV) In my Bible, I wrote next to this: “As if God has nothing else to do.” 😁 Why would God count every star?

Because what God creates is IMPORTANT to Him! He cares about what He has made.

We humans could painstakingly learn the names of the stars, and still, so many would slip through our fingers. Not God. If that doesn’t prove that God is a caring, loving, and approachable God, I don’t know what does!

Stars are countless for humans. ⭐ Not for God. If that’s not proof of His omnipotence and wisdom, then what is?

And if you look at the context of this verse, God is speaking to the people of Israel, who have just experienced a lot of suffering. The verse reminds us: If God Himself orders the stars, then surely He can bring order to our lives too.

Oh, friend, do you see how much VALUE is packed into just one sentence of the Bible?

Take the time to LOOK CLOSELY, because this ONE book really is enough for an entire lifetime! 😉

You are a miracle!
