Experience the new

I love the Cirque du Soleil shows I’ve seen in Las Vegas. I’ve been to O, Mystère, and KÀ. Wow! The acrobats, musicians, and jugglers blow my mind. The creator of these shows is a French Canadian by the name of Guy Laliberté. He is a genius who has rewritten the landscape of entertainment in Las Vegas and far beyond. Another French Canadian who has marked not only my city but the world is Céline Dion. She has dazzled audiences for years.

It’s fascinating to me that these massive talents come from Quebec, a small province in Canada. Although I was born in Montréal, Canada, I always identified myself as a “Quebecer.” There’s something special about this province. It has truly become a hotbed of innovation, talent, and creativity in sports (an incredible number of professional hockey players), industry (the creation of Bombardier and ski-doos), and education (McGill University, for example).

friend, why would a population of just over 4 million produce so many innovators? I believe it comes from the divine breath of God and an atmosphere that encourages risk, battles, and a passion for life. Were you raised in an environment like this?

Whether each of us were or were not, let’s remember Paul the Apostle who once wrote, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV) Paul had a faith that gave him wings. No threat, beating, or border could stop this man from his vision of expanding the Kingdom of God. He was driven by the next challenge, country, and miracle.
