Have you lost your childlike wonder?

Well, hello, my friend! Thank you for joining me again this week of "A Miracle Every Day." You know, as a writer, I often develop themes over seven days, but sometimes I'm just struck by a random thought that I simply can't get out of my mind.
So instead of following one single theme, over the next week, I'd like to share seven random moments through which God has been speaking to my heart.
One of my favorite gifts to receive is a short video from my granddaughter. Her name is Hallie, and her approach to the world teaches me so much about Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and God, my Father.
I’ve gotten several videos over the last few days, as Hallie is experiencing what I call "the wonder of the world." There was one in which she was having a wonderful little interaction with a frog. Hallie was absolutely enthralled with this little creature that God placed on her path. I also watched her interact with a bug! Unfortunately, this particular bug happened to be dead, but it didn't take away any of her joy and happiness as she encountered this insect for the very first (and last) time.
I have a simple question for you today: Have you lost your childlike wonder?
No, seriously, have you lost your ability to see the beauty of God in the intricacies of a flower, or in the growth process of a seed that gets dropped into the ground, or the beauty of a sunset or sunrise?
The Bible is full of moments when people actually stop and just soak in the wonder of who God is and the beauty of the world around us, as it testifies to how amazing and complex the God that we serve is!
Psalm 65:8 says, "The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders. When morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy." (Psalm 65:8, NIV)
Psalm 8:3-4 says, "When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you've set into place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings, that you care for them?" (Psalm 8:3-4, NIV)
Psalm 19:1 says, "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands." (Psalm 19:1, NIV)
My friend, would you simply focus on the awe and the beauty of all that God has placed around you? This is what I can promise you from experience: when we actually take the moment to embrace God’s design of beauty and creativity, our hearts are filled with wonder AND our problems seem to shrink in size.
So, spend time today studying the foam on the top of your coffee, drinking in the smell that's wafting from your kitchen. Take a moment and just get up close and personal with something that God has created (maybe a BUG!), and then be mindful of the fact that the same God who created the beauty around you also created YOU.
YOU began in the mind of God, and YOU are God’s creation!
Let me pray for you, “God, thank you for a moment today to simply sit in Your presence and soak in the awe and wonder of all that you've put around us. We are grateful, and may these thoughts focus our minds on You, and You alone. Amen.
Never forget, my friend, you are a miracle!
