How do you talk about today?

“Oh, Déborah, with everything you’ve got going on, I’d totally lose it.”
Or, maybe for yourself, you’ve thought something like, “It’s all too much—I’m going to lose it!”
Uuuuuh, do you realize how dangerous statements like that are? 😲
Words have P-O-W-E-R!
We know that… But we don’t always think about it when we’re speaking, do we? Otherwise, maybe we’d bite our tongues a little more often… 🤔
Not long ago, I came back from a full weekend, and someone had just said those words to me. Yes, I was tired. And you know, when you’re tired, it gets dangerous. And suddenly, I—who’s always talking about the power of God—caught myself saying: “I can’t do this anymore.”
Ohhhhh, ALL my internal alarm bells started going off! 🔔 Because one of my favorite verses jumped straight from my heart to my mind:
“Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13 NLT)
Do you know WHEN David said those words? When Saul was chasing him down. When he had to make choices that were way bigger than himself. Just two verses before that, he writes: “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” (Psalm 27:10 NLT)
We don’t know exactly what all David was facing, but it sure sounds like he was in a time of deep emotional and social isolation. And right there, in the middle of all that hopelessness, he speaks hope: “Yet I am confident I will see the Lord’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.” (Psalm 27:13 NLT)
So, how are YOU speaking about today? About YOUR life?
Speak hope into the hopeless places. And in doing so, show your heart: “I trust God completely! Yes, I WILL see and experience how good God is to me!” 💚
AMEN!
You are a miracle!
