Jesus would totally offend people today…

Jesus always spoke directly. Boldly. He confronted people. Today—in a world where you can barely say anything without the risk of offending someone—that would be really tough.
No, Jesus wasn’t “empathetic” in the modern sense. While we carefully explain every feeling, acknowledge every emotion, analyze everything from every angle, and even Google what a slight headache might mean… Jesus comes in with a straight-up:
“Why did you doubt me?” (Matthew 14:31 NLT)
I mean—Peter had literally just walked on water. Like, on water! His sandals were soaked. His pant legs were probably dripping. No wonder he started thinking, “Help! I’m going under.” It looked like he was.
Today, we’d respond with something like: “Oh Peter… You didn’t fully think this situation through. You’ll probably end up with the flu tomorrow. 🤒 And why did you listen to the voice of a ghost calling to you, ‘Come!’ (Matthew 14:29 NIV)? Now we’ll help you cope with the consequences of your poor choices.”
That’s what we would say. But Jesus? By our standards, He was shockingly blunt. He simply said: “Why did you doubt me?” (Matthew 14:31 NLT) Do you notice how Jesus doesn’t go into the thousand details we would?
He looks Peter in the eye and directly asks: “Why did you doubt me?” (Matthew 14:31 NLT)
Why would Jesus mention that Peter might get the flu tomorrow when He’s the Healer? Why talk about the danger of drowning when He knows the wind and the waves obey Him? (see Matthew 8:27)
Jesus doesn’t talk about the problems. Because He knows HE is the solution.
So let me ask you plainly today: “Why are you doubting?” Could it be that you're focused on all the “thousand problems” Jesus already has the solution for?
You are a miracle!
