God has already spoken to you!

At first, I was laughed at when I put on high SPF sunscreen on vacation, even though the sun didn’t seem that strong. But my dermatologist had reminded me to take very good care of my skin, so I did it anyway.

You can probably guess what happened next, right? The next morning, I looked at other people’s sunburned backs and legs, and I was grateful I didn’t have that pain because I had followed my doctor’s instructions!

He had given me those instructions years ago and hadn’t repeated them just before the trip. But I could have also easily looked up those instructions online myself. Today, if you have a question, it’s so easy to find the answer. It’s practically already there.

And that made me think: we often want to “hear from God” so we can do the right thing. But could it be that He already spoke to you years ago and gave you the answer to your question?

And even if He hasn’t spoken directly… His answer is still “already there.” You just have to read it and choose to believe it. You just have to make His Word—the Word you have in your Bible—your answer. 📖

“The Lord says: ‘Are you thirsty? Come, here is water! Even those who have no money can come… LISTEN TO ME, and do what I say, and you will have enough… LISTEN TO ME, and come! Yes, ACCEPT MY INSTRUCTIONS so you can live!” (Isaiah 55:1-3, my paraphrase)

Just as I was glad to follow my doctor’s instructions—even though he had given them years ago and I didn’t wait to hear them “again” to take them seriously—God wants you to take seriously the instructions He may have already given you years ago, or that He has written in His Word.

Because hearing from God means listening to Him and doing what He says.
