It’s just three simple words...

Publication date Nov 15, 2025

I don't think there's a better way to end this series on “what to pray when you don't know what to pray,” with a short, powerful, three-word prayer: “Come, Lord Jesus.”

At the end of the Bible, there's an invitation to all those of us who run out of words but still thirst for so much more—for a deep connection with God.

Revelation 22 says, "The Spirit and the bride say, 'Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, ‘Yes, I am coming soon.’ Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." (Revelation 22:17-20, NIV

In our society, we often hear words like "end injustice," "end trafficking," and "end racism…" And as believers in Jesus, we should agree completely with all of those cries!

And yet, praying “Come, Lord Jesus,” well, that raises the bar as high as possible, because included in that are all of these beautiful proclamations: "Come, Lord Jesus, and end sin," "Come, Lord Jesus, and end suffering," and, "Come, Lord Jesus, and end death, once and for all."

Praying “Come, Lord Jesus” asks God to end everything that makes the world broken, and it also asks Him to make everything new.

“Come, Lord Jesus,” is the prayer to end all prayers, because when Jesus returns, our faith will turn to sight, and our prayers will no longer be necessary, because we will be in the presence of our God forever.

So let me lead you with that three-word prayer and a blessing:

Come, Lord Jesus.

The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God's people. That means you. Amen.

Never forget, my friend, you are a miracle.
