When an angel stands in your room

Publication date Dec 5, 2025

It’s so fascinating to see the order of events when an angel appears in Mary’s room! It says:

“The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored. The Lord is with you!’” (Luke 1:28 NIV)

And then: “Mary was deeply troubled by these words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.” (Luke 1:29)

Mary was startled at first, but then she immediately asked herself what it could mean.

In the very same passage, Mary made her decision: “I am the Lord’s servant … May your word to me be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:38 NIV)

Mary could have had every reason to say first: “Um, thanks for the info, but I should probably check with my parents or my pastor first.” But Mary had this EXTRODINARY encounter where she decided — on her own — to trust God and follow His ways. The sequence of events was:

  • She was startled: “Mary was deeply troubled by these words…” (Luke 1:29 NIV)

  • She asked herself: “…and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.” (Luke 1:29 NIV)

  • She decided to believe: “I am the Lord’s servant. May it happen to me as you have said.” (Luke 1:38 NIV)

Maybe God has already placed something on your heart for a long time, and you’ve been just as startled: “How could I do this? Who am I?”

Today, I encourage you to ask yourself what it could mean. Ask yourself. Not others. Take it to God in prayer. 🤲🏻

And then decide today: “I will fully SURRENDER MYSELF to the Lord,” just like Mary did.

You are a miracle!
