Who—or what—has a grip on you? 🤔

Publication date Jan 29, 2026

Letting go of something you’ve grown used to can be very painful—especially something you might even like.

But do you know what your goal in life (and in this new year) should be? To be FULLY led by the Holy Spirit.

That’s where I want to get to as well. And we can only get there if we think about this intentionally, in EVERY area of our lives.

While I often get in my own way, the Holy Spirit leads me onto healthy and new paths!

The Bible says, “Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey?” (Romans 6:16, NLT)

I find this verse pretty intense. Because we become “slaves” to something—or even someone—much faster than we realize.

All the while, the Holy Spirit is standing right there

But if we only allow the Holy Spirit to stand on the sidelines, things can go wrong very quickly. And without noticing, we live as slaves— not as people who have been set free!

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1, NIV)

So today, take a moment to reflect: in what area of your life might you be living as a slave instead of as someone who is free? Who—or what—are you submitting yourself to that feels heavy and oppressive, before submitting yourself to Jesus, who wants freedom for you?

Let’s make a heartfelt decision today and pray:

“Holy Spirit, You will no longer stand on the sidelines. I give my entire life to Jesus Christ. THANK YOU for the freedom You give as I place You above everything else. Amen.”

You are a miracle.
