Why You Shouldn’t Stay Alone Today…

Publication date Mar 17, 2026

You can’t imagine the miracle that could happen today simply because you choose to approach someone. 🤩

Even though I may seem very extroverted, I actually really value being by myself. Not having to talk. I actually love going out to eat alone.

Recently, while on vacation, I met an Australian couple one afternoon. They said, “Let’s have dinner together tonight.” Outwardly, I smiled and said, “Sure, I’d love to.” Inwardly? Oh no.

Do you know that feeling?

At first, I was annoyed with myself. I thought I had just given up my chance for a quiet evening. But then I realized: what if God had something completely different in mind through this encounter? What if He wanted to reach them with His love?

“Alright then,” I thought. “Let’s do this.”

The evening was nice. No complaints. But somehow the conversation didn’t move in a direction where I could naturally talk about faith.

Then they asked, “Where are you headed next?”

I answered, “Africa. I’m going to visit my sponsor child with Compassion International.”

Before I could blink, he had signed up for a sponsorship on his phone and laughed: “I’ve spent more money at the bar tonight—and this is far more meaningful.”

Even though I had hoped to share more about faith, I was so grateful that evening! Here’s what I’ve learned:

Your investment of love in other people is never wasted. God always has His own ways.

The next morning, I ran into them again. He said, “I looked at the Compassion website—it’s beautiful. It feels very Christian. What’s behind it?”

My heart skipped a beat. There it was—the opportunity to share the true hope. 🤩

So today, I want to encourage you: Reach out to people. You have so much to give.

…and you will experience something beautiful in the process.

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” (Galatians 6:9-10, NIV)

You are a miracle!
