God Is With Us in Our History

Publication date May 19, 2026

This morning, I was thinking about all the times when God was with me, but I didn’t see it at the time. I was too distracted, too discouraged, too inwardly focused, but my chosen position did not mean God was not there!

When I look back over the pages of Scripture, one thing becomes impossible to miss: God has always been with His people.

From the very beginning, God’s story with humanity has been a story of presence. He walked with Adam and Eve in the garden. He walked with Enoch so closely that one day Enoch simply walked home with God. He walked with Noah through the storm and with Abraham through uncertainty.

The Bible tells us that Noah lived in a time when the world had completely lost its way. Violence, corruption, and evil were everywhere. But Noah chose a different path. He chose to walk with God.

“Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God.” (Genesis 6:9, NIV)

I love that phrase: “he walked with God.”

That’s the invitation God has always extended to His people—not just to believe in Him, but to walk with Him.

When I think about my own life, I realize that God has been present in moments when I clearly saw His hand. But He was also present in seasons when I didn’t understand what He was doing at all. Sometimes we only see God clearly when we look backward.

You might be in a season right now where things feel uncertain. Maybe you’re wondering how a situation will work out. Maybe you’re carrying questions that don’t have answers yet.

But the same God who walked with Noah through the flood, Abraham through the unknown, and Joseph through betrayal and prison is the same God who walks with you today.

Your story is not disconnected from God’s story. It is part of it.

And when we remember that God has been faithful throughout history, we begin to trust that He will be faithful in our present as well.

Your past is not a collection of random moments. It is a story of God’s presence guiding you step by step—even when you didn’t realize it.

Take a moment today and reflect on your life. Look for the fingerprints of God’s faithfulness. You may be surprised at how often He has been walking beside you.

God, thank You for being present throughout history and throughout my own story. Help me remember the ways You have been faithful in the past so that I can trust You with the future. Teach me to walk with You each day. In the name of Jesus, Amen.

You are a miracle!
