God Is With Us in the Mystery
I said this out loud this morning, “God, I have no idea what You are up to!”
Have you ever been there?
One of the most difficult parts of faith is learning to trust God when life doesn’t make sense. We don’t always know the journey, but we can ALWAYS trust the Guide!!
I know it’s May, but can we talk about Christmas for the next few days? The first Christmas began with a mystery that no human being could explain. Mary was engaged to Joseph, and before they came together she was found to be pregnant. From a human perspective, the situation seemed impossible to understand.
And Mary herself asked the same question we often ask when life surprises us: How can this be?
“‘How will this be,’ Mary asked the angel, ‘since I am a virgin?’” (Luke 1:34, NIV)
I appreciate Mary’s honesty! She didn’t pretend to understand everything. She simply asked the question… And faithfully waited for God’s answer.
There are moments in life when we all ask that question, aren’t there?
How can this be happening? How did life take this turn? How are we supposed to move forward?
The beautiful thing about the Christmas story is that God didn’t wait until everything made sense before He showed up. He entered the world right in the middle of confusion, uncertainty, and unanswered questions.
God specializes in working through mystery.
Sometimes we want a clear explanation before we trust Him. But often God invites us to trust Him before we fully understand what He’s doing.
Mary didn’t receive a complete roadmap for her future. She simply received the assurance that God was involved in what was happening. That assurance was enough!
If you are walking through a confusing season right now, remember this: mystery does not mean God is absent. In fact, the moments that feel the most mysterious are often the moments when God is doing something deeper than we can yet see.
Faith is not the absence of questions. Faith is trusting God even when the answers are still unfolding.
The same God who was present in Mary’s mystery is present in yours. And one day, you may look back and realize that what once felt confusing was actually part of God’s beautiful plan all along.
Let’s pray together:
God, there are moments in my life that I do not fully understand. Help me trust You in the mystery. Give me peace in the middle of uncertainty and remind me that You are always working, even when I cannot see it. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
You are a miracle!
