Is it too easy?

Publication date Jun 1, 2026

In the Old Testament, there were so many complicated instructions for people who had sinned against God. I’m so grateful that, through Jesus’ death, we’ve been freed from rituals we could never fully keep, and that the way to God has been made so simple for us!

Too simple?

Back then, it said things like: “The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out … The fire must be kept burning on the altar continuously; it must not go out.” (Leviticus 6:12-13 NIV)

Honestly, many of us would probably fail even at that “simple” task… We’d fall asleep. 😴

And the requirements went much further, but let’s pause here. Because this point from the Old Testament still has something to do with you today.

Now let’s jump to the New Testament: “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.” (Romans 12:1 NIV)

That means your life—you—are now the offering that pleases God. A living sacrifice.

So if we go back to the Old Testament verse: “…the fire must not go out…” What does that mean for us today?

It means God longs for a relationship with you where the connection never runs dry. He wants to stay connected with you—always.

Just like you make sure your phone is always charged, and you never forget your charger when you travel because it matters to you, God desires that you make time for Him every day because He matters to you.

Just as you want God to speak to you, He wants you to speak to Him.

That’s it. It really is that simple… Especially when you compare it to how much effort you put into keeping your phone charged and connected.

Could it be that it’s too simple?

That’s how Jesus is. He makes Himself easy to find because He wants to be found—by you.

Now that’s love.

You are a miracle!
