The Invitation to the Potter’s House

There are moments when I sense God inviting me into something deeper—but I don’t always say yes.

Sometimes I resist. Sometimes I delay. Sometimes I distract myself with noise, screens, or exhaustion. But I am learning something: every time I say “no” to God’s invitation, I miss something He wanted to show me.

In Jeremiah 18, God didn’t just give Jeremiah a message—He gave him an invitation: “Go down to the potter’s house.” And Jeremiah’s response was simple: he went.

That response challenges me because obedience and revelation are always connected. If I want to hear from God, I have to be willing to move when He speaks. Listen to this powerful scripture:

“This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: ‘Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.’ So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel.” (Jeremiah 18:1–3, NIV)

God is still inviting you in the same way today. Not to a physical house, but into His presence, into a conversation, into transformation.

The question I have to wrestle with is this: Where am I resisting God right now? Why do I pass on His invitation? What would happen if I said “yes” to His kind invitation?

I know this to be true—when I say yes, I never walk away empty. I walk away fulfilled. Rested. Changed.

Saying yes to God isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about trusting the One who does.

And today, I want to be someone who responds like Jeremiah. How about you? I have an idea. Let’s go together! Let’s pray to that end:

“Jesus, give me the courage to say yes when You invite me. Help me recognize Your voice above all the distractions in my life. I don’t want to miss what You have for me. Lead me to Your presence, and shape my heart to respond in obedience. I pray this in Your name. Amen.”
