Treat yourself, friend!
When was the last time you treated yourself? Yes, yourself!
It doesn't have to be something elaborate like a new car or a big vacation. I'm talking about everyday treats—like a moment in the sun with a large cappuccino and a delicious piece of cake (without having a guilty conscience)!
Could it be that we as believers often take care of ourselves last? Interestingly, though, the Bible even says, "...'You shall love your neighbor AS YOURSELF.'" (Galatians 5:14, NKJV, capitalization added)
When I was just 17 years old, I trained as a flight attendant for the Swiss airline Crossair. In the process, I learned something that changed my perspective…
In case of a pressure drop, when the oxygen masks fall and you're racing to save the lives of your fellow human beings, you MUST first grab a mask and put it on yourself!
Because then—and only then—will you survive and be strong enough to take care of those around you…and help save their lives!
There's a reason the verse says "Love your neighbor AS YOURSELF" and not "Love yourself as you love others." So, you're allowed to actually come first in this case…you don't have to immediately fear that it's selfish. Quite the opposite!
What we often forget in our good will is that we have to demonstrate agape love towards ourselves before we can truly and fully demonstrate it to others! Allow yourself to love yourself, enjoy life, and live, friend. Yes, take a moment for yourself today…treat yourself! :-)
When you choose to love yourself with agape love as GOD does, you'll have so much more to give others!
You are so precious!
You are a miracle!
