What To Do When It Hurts
"Is there a pain that just comes with the territory?" I asked myself this question as I looked at my overtired face in the morning. All night long I had suffered with that stomach ache that can pretty much knock women out once a month.
I thought of the women who give birth screaming and crying, but they go through with it knowing what a beautiful baby they will then hold in their arms.
Jehoshaphat had to make a decision about his great pain. He was surrounded by large armies that wanted to destroy the relatively small group of God’s chosen people. That must have frightened him a lot. He could have surrendered and given up. He could have cried, "Why me? Why always me?"
Instead, he did something that we too should do again and again when it hurts!
In one breath. The Bible says, “Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord…” (2 Chronicles 20:3 NIV) This king reached out to God in prayer.
This is what you should do when it hurts, friend! Pray.
The bad news was Jehoshaphat's current pain. His decision was prayer. His miracle was victory!
What is your current pain, friend? What will your decision be? Depending on the decision you make, you now know what your miracle can look like!
Can it be that this pain simply belongs to your miracle? Maybe God wants to show you that you need Him to help you in and through this.
Make the decision to pray, and if you don't have the words, let Jehoshaphat show you how he prayed when he was in trouble: "...we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (2 Chronicles 20:12 NIV)
friend, I look forward to your miracle!
You are a miracle!
