You Have Been Filmed, friend!
If you suddenly found out you had been filmed from morning to night for the last few days, and this was now going to end up on YouTube—that is, for the whole world to see—how would that make you feel?
Maybe you'd think: "Oh wow, I actually wanted to do good without anyone noticing. I helped my sick neighbor, and now everyone will know..."
Let's face it, though. Most of us would probably freeze in fear because we don't want what others don't know about us to come out, that the things that usually happen behind closed doors would suddenly be seen. It's easy for us to put on a big smile in front of the neighbors and play the "nice Christian" card, but as soon as the door is closed...we don’t always do the right thing.
The Bible is very clear about that. It says, "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." (1 Corinthians 13:1 NIV)
In another translation, that verse speaks of a booming kettledrum instead of a clanging cymbal. Booming is not necessarily a great thing. For example, the engines of helicopters drone loudly, and then what do you do automatically? You've probably seen that in movies before. We immediately cover our ears.
This verse makes it clear that you can fool others as much as you want, but it's all worth nothing, and ultimately no good, if your actions don't arise out of love.
Fortunately, this record of your last days does not exist, but God has seen everything, including what happens behind closed doors. That's why it's important that we always ask ourselves this question in everything we do, friend: "Am I acting out of this love God desires in my life, whether in front of others or in private?"
Let EVERYTHING you do begin with love, and you will gain many good moments!
You are a miracle!
